The Best Dark Lips for Halloween | Pugs and Dinosaurs

Just to clarify, this post is not sponsored by NYX, I’m just a big fan of the brand’s lip range.

It’s the 9th of October so you’re probably thinking ahead to your Halloween costume and wondering what to dress up as. For many of us, we don’t want to spend too much money if we’re not going to a party or event and so our own wardobes and make up bags are the best place to turn.

That’s why I thought I’d put together a little round up of some of the best dark lipsticks to consider for your casual Halloween costume

Bourjois Rouge Edition

Shade: 08 Grand Cru

This is a dark red that’s great for everyday wear but also ideal for the vampire costume you may be considering putting together.

It dries matt, has a marshmallowy texture when first applied and you will need a few coats for good coverage but once this lipstick is on it stays on.

NYX Lingerie

Shade: 02 Embellishment

This shade dries to an almost purple/grey colour which I think would work perfectly for a glamorous zombie costume (because apparently that’s a thing).

It’s a hard shade to pull off everyday – I don’t actually wear it – but it’s great for Halloween.

NYX Liquid Suede

Shade: Cherry Skies

This is a lovely dark red which I think would work well to create a rockabilly look or even a vampire again.

It’s another shade that goes on like gloss then dries matte and lasts for a long time. For this type of dark colour though I would recommend putting on a lip liner to avoid any bleeding or smudging when you eat or drink.

NYX Liquid Suede

Shade: Vintage

This colour is potentially dark enough for a classic black cat make up look, it’s a deep purple that dries matte.

Even if you don’t wear one of these for a costume, they’re great Autumnal colours.

Which colour will you be trying this October?
