So I’ve had a few days to process all the wonderful things that have emerged from San Diego Comic Con. One day, I’ll have enough monies to fly there and visit the con myself. One day…
But for now I thought I’d share some of my favourite new trailers and give my thoughts on each – just in case you missed anything!
Gotham S3
YES YES YES. God I love Gotham and this trailer was worth waiting for – okay, S2 only really just ended here in the UK but I’m really missing my Gotham fix each week. The trailer doesn’t give much away, it’s mainly a recap of everything that happened in S2 but it does suggest that the villains are really going to be running the show when it comes back. And what’s that Bruce Wayne clone all about?
The Defenders
We all know how little I enjoyed the Daredevil series on Netflix – wait, you don’t? Then you should read my review post on how the show is filled with disheartening female tropes and a weak plot – but I think I’ll give Murdoch a chance with this new Defenders series, featuring so far Daredevil, Jessica Jones and Luke Cage.
Now, there should be four defenders…so, who is the last one? Well, it’s got to be Iron Fist.
Who?
Yeah I dunno either.
But we’ll find out soon enough as Netflix are pushing out an Iron Fist show to support the Defenders series. Apparently this has been in the works for a year or so now but the writers weren’t sure how to go about explaining the character’s powers, but we see monks in the trailer so there’s probably some mystic Dark Knight shit going on.
Here’s the Iron Fist teaser trailer:
Luke Cage
This is one of the best trailers I’ve seen for a while now, with Shimmy Shimmy Ya playing in the background as Cage uses a car door to defend himself while taking numerous bullets along the way it’s not super fast paced but still pretty slick. The fighting isn’t as fancy as Daredevil – which to be honest was the only highlight of the show – it’s more Jones style, brute force and intimidating. I’m very excited.
Wonder Woman
I still haven’t seen Batman V Superman or any of the Henry Cavill Superman films for that matter, and do you know what I’m still not fussed. However, I DO want to watch the new Wonder Woman movie after seeing the trailer released at SDCC. She looks strong, badass…but let’s just ignore that Chris Pine Little Mermaid style moment early on in the trailer. I think Gal Gadot is great for the part and it’s a film I’ll be going to the cinema to see.
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them
We finally got to see some of the magical creatures in action! AND I’M SO EXCITED. When this film was first announced I really wasn’t all that interested, it wasn’t the story of Harry, Ron and Hermione so I kind of switched off. But the more trailers I see the more I really want more my interest peaks and it looks like it’s going to be just as magical as the HP films themselves, giving us a glimpse into another wizarding world we didn’t get to explore the first time round.
Lego Batman
Lego Batman was one of the best things to come out of the Lego movie, a film I really need to rewatch. The trailer is the tongue and cheek comedy I expected to witness and I still absolutely love Will Arnett voicing Batman.
