I told myself 2016 would be the year I really started to work on my cosplay skills, after my abysmal attempt for MCM Comic Con in September last year.

So bad. I’m also about a stone heavier there.

So I’ve been researching and deciding on what I want to create for the year ahead and I’m going to start with my own take on Mystique, from X-Men. Don’t worry, it won’t be full on nakey blue Mystique…I will be clothed.

But today I thought I’d share a little make up test I put together today that I thought looked pretty good. Just using Snazaroo paints in two colours I pulled this look together, along with a red wig that I still need to take some time to style.

The wigs also a little shiny, so I’ve been looking at ways I can can remove that. I think I’m going to put together a classic Mystique look (white dress and boots) with my own little twist on the make up – classic Mystique doesn’t have the scaly bits.

What do you think? I didn’t think it was terrible for a first attempt.
