Punky Pins Patches Review | Pugs and Dinosaurs

As you may know already, I love me a patch or pin – usually featuring a nerdy or pop culture reference other like minded people can spot and then point out to me in the street. My denim jacket is a conversation starter, I’ve had people come up to me to specifically compliment me on my patchwork and to ask where I got them from.

There’s a lot less space on my jacket now, since this photo was taken!

For the socially awkward, it’s a little unnerving having strangers staring at what you have on, but it’s also quite nice to know that other people are on your wave length and all those Stranger Things patches you’ve suddenly found yourself buying aren’t all that, well…strange.

This patch is from Fairycakes on etsy

So, today, I thought I’d share a little review of a shop called Punky Pins I’d seen around for a while but for some reason had never been sure about buying from. Most of my patches come from independent illustrators – who share their lives as well as their amazing work on Instagram – and are my main source for new and exciting additions to my denim jacket.

Punky Pins is more of a brand than a person, which is fine, it just took me a while to trust it. But I’m so glad I took the plunge.

There’s a huge variety of patch designs on the website, with a whole area dedicated to Stranger Things – all the more exciting since the surprise Stranger Things 2 announcement at the Superbowl recently – plus plenty of cute feminist themed patches and pop culture designs.

I opted for two pins, featuring Nancy from the cult 90s movie The Craft and her famous quote ‘We are the weirdos mister’. I’ve popped these on the front pocket of my jacket.

I of course picked up a new Stranger Things addition in the form of my Eleven straining to use her powers patch. I love the simplicity of the design but also the little added detail of her nose bleeding.

The deathshead moth reminded me of Hannibal, I love the design, and I also picked up a ‘The Book Was Better’ patch because it’s something I always say to anyone who will listen – looking at you Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.

The products are great quality, especially the enamel pins, and arrived really quickly. Punky Pins prices are super reasonable too, with pins usually costing around £6 and patches £4.50. The site also creates stickers and jewellery and shipping is free for orders over £15 if you are based in the UK!

So, yeah, check the shop out. I’m sure you’ll find something you like.

Happy patch shopping!
